Leaf Creative is an inspirational and unique plant destination with a thriving restaurant The Fernery in the heart of Gloucestershire. Leaf Creative Garden Design is also part of a group of companies offering a complete service from designing a space, to building a clients dream garden to providing and planting it all from one specialised location. Leaf Creative is involved in many specialist niche events throughout the calendar year including the prestigious Cheltenham Jazz Festival and the big stage of the Malvern Spring Festival and Autumn Show.

The ideal candidate for the General Manager role will have retail horticulture experience, a passion for customer service and the ability to thrive in this fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and great motivation are essential to maintaining our friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The role will require completely overseeing and managing the garden centre business, leading a team of staff and help them ensure that every area of the centre, from Plantaria to Restaurant, offers its customers a great retail experience. With the aim of increasing sales, the General Manager also will control the centres budget and stock purchases and manage its promotions, optimising profitability and championing customer service.

Main Responsibilities

Managing the day to day running of the site and ensuring the centre is presented and maintained to the desired standard

Ensuring policy and procedure is adhered to and health and safety and customer service standards are maintained.

Taking positive action to achieve goals and action plans agreed with the Directors

Liaising with the centres HR Manager to produce staff action plans and progression plans. Input into Performance Reviews to ensure our staff are fully engaged and motivated and working towards their own professional goals

Hold regular team meetings to encourage new ideas and teambuilding

Keyholder position ensuring responsibilities are maintained


3 years minimum retail experience in a managerial role

Excellent communication skills

A confident person with personal drive and ambition

Understanding financial principles involved in the retail sector including budgets
